About me
I'm Max, an AI engineer in Augsburg, Germany. I build LLM systems that have to work for real users under real constraints: answers grounded in actual sources, access that respects who is allowed to see what, and data protection that isn't an afterthought.
Right now that's AIS.chat , a national AI assistant for schools, commissioned by the German federal government and the federal states and used by thousands of teachers every day. I co-designed and built its agentic layer together with another AI engineer: the assistant works with documents teachers upload, searches the web and reads individual pages, all within strict permission and data protection requirements. AIS.chat is open source, so the code is public: github.com/FWU-DE/ais-chat .
Also at XITASO, I worked on the Multivac chatbot , a RAG assistant that makes a large corporate corpus and wiki conversational, where users only get answers from content they are allowed to see.
I started programming at thirteen, trained as a Fachinformatiker (the German vocational route into software development) and then studied computer science in Augsburg, with a thesis on using a conversational agent to retrieve information from an organisational wiki. I've worked in software since 2017, from the apprenticeship through part-time work during my studies to my current role at XITASO.
